Advanced kitesurfing techniques

Board-off: This is a maneuver in which the kitesurfer jumps off the board and lands back on it, using the kite to control their height and speed. This can be a difficult and risky maneuver, but it can also be very impressive and fun.

Kiteloop : A kiteloop is a maneuver in which the kitesurfer loops the kite in the air, generating a lot of power and lift. This can be used to perform jumps and other aerial maneuvers, or to quickly change direction and speed.

Grabs and spins: Kitesurfers can perform various grabs and spins on the board or in the air, using the kite to provide additional lift and control. This can include grabbing the board or the kite with one or both hands, or spinning the board or the kite in different directions.

2. ractice flying a kite on land. Before you get on a board, it's important to learn how to control the kite and generate power. You can practice flying the kite on land to get a feel for how it responds to the wind and how to steer it.
3. Start with a trainer kite. A trainer kite is a small, two-line kite that is designed for learning. You can use a trainer kite to practice kite control and body dragging, which is moving through the water while being pulled by the kite.

3 days in Sicily with Andrea Principi and the TrickiteSchool

Due to the perfect weather conditions in East Sicily and the friendship with Riccardo (The owner of kitesurfing school TrickiteSchool) Andrea choose to come over in Sicily to train for the upcoming event Full Power Tarifa.

La Winter Cup avrà le stesse regole e discipline del campionato italiano di categoria ma assegnerà il titolo di campione di Inverno FISW (Federazione Italiana Sci Nautico e Wakeboard – settore Surfing).

L’edizione 2020 della Ortigia Sup Race è stata caratterizzata da un clima temperato e soleggiato, tantissimi i paddlers arrivati da tutta Italia che si sono dati battaglia sui diversi percorsi Technical e Long Distance. La macchina organizzativa della IV edizione della Ortigia Sup Race è già pronta.

Nonostante il duro periodo causato dalla pandemia, anche quest’anno, la Ortigia Sup Race conferma numeri da record: più di cinquanta gli atleti iscritti ad oggi.

I paddlers tra le diverse categorie si daranno battaglia su quattro campi di regata autorizzati dalla Capitaneria di Porto di Siracusa: fronte Talete, Lungomare di Levante, di Ponente e Porto Grande. Il percorso sarà decisa all’ultimo momento in base alle condi-meteo dall’organizzazione e dal Race Director FISW Giovanni Antonacci.

“La Ortigia Sup Race è stata sempre volutamente organizzata “fuori stagione”. Una manifestazione, questa, che coinvolge tantissime persone, la presenza della Federazione, di numerosi club d’Italia, tutti segnali di ricadute economiche positive per la città di Siracusa. Sembrerà strano ma molti atleti e tecnici saranno a Siracusa prima e dopo la gara, complice il “ponte festivo” scelto appositamente – afferma Ivan Scimonelli project manager dell’evento -, per godere delle bellezze di Siracusa, Ortigia e il suo mare. Andranno così a nutrire la nostra economia locale, fruendo della ristorazione, della ricettività e di servizi vari in bassa stagione. Inoltre, l’attenzione sul Sup Race da parte di tutta la città è cresciuta a dismisura, non c’è giorno d’estate che non si vede un Sup nelle coste siracusane. Ma non solo, l’attenzione del Comitato olimpico internazionale è sempre più alta, uno sport facile da praticare nei fiumi, laghi o mari, poco costoso e soprattutto facile da “capire”, si presta benissimo agli schemi olimpici. Indiscrezioni fondate danno il Sup come futura disciplina olimpica per Parigi 2024”.
La manifestazione è sostenuta interamente da contributi privati con main sponsor ONDA PIU’ e organizzato dal Circolo della Vela Lakkios.
